Noting that he received the "copy of the account of the Banquet at New York to the Britannic Majesty High Commissioner" sent by Cyrus Field and presented it to Queen Victoria, who commanded him to thank Mr. Field for his kindness; asking McCarthy to pass on this message to Field.

Cyrus West Field (1819-1892) was a merchant and capitalist who promoted the laying of the first Atlantic cable linking the U.S. with Europe.
